Now that your asphalt driveway is fixed, the potholes (and the damage they’ve done to your car) has been attended to it is time to enjoy life! Spring is here and you know what that means! All across Tucson, folks are getting out and enjoying everything our lovely city has to offer! This month on the Sunrise Asphalt blog we’re digging into some of the events we’re excited about.

April 1st

Meet Me at Maynards: Maynards to the Moon

Motor vehicles aren’t the only ones enjoying the asphalt out there! This community event celebrates the 50th anniversary of the very first walk on the moon sees participants doing weekly walks looking to total 238,000 miles by July 22, 2019. Here’s the thing. They’ve already crushed it! That’s why on April 1st they are throwing a party! Head to Maynards Market & Kitchen and enjoy! Find Out More

April 3rd

Cirque du Soleil: Corteo

Beginning April 3rd and running until April 7th, the Cirque du Soleil production Corteo comes through Tucson’s Convention Center Arena. The show and set are inspired by the Eiffel Tower, creating an incredible grand presence to the stage. Wednesday through Friday there is a single show a night at 7:30, while Saturday and Sunday both have two showings, 3:30 and 7:30, and 1:00 and 5:00 PM respectively. April 6th

SculptureTucson Festive Show & Sale

Running April 6th and 7th the SculptureTucson Festival will have over five dozen local and regional sculptors exhibiting their work for the Tucson community! Folks are welcome to walk the creations, enjoy food trucks and live music as well as enjoy talks and demos from the sculptors themselves! Saturday hours are 9:30-6:00 PM, Sunday 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM, admission is free!

Baja Beer Festival

If sculptures aren’t quite your thing, or you’d like to wet your whistle afterward head over to Armory Park for the Baja Beer Festival! From 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM you can join up with other beer fans and the Arizona Craft Brewers Guild, offering beers from the state’s best breweries and food to go with it! The focus this time around is on IPAs so expect an amazing selection. General admission is $40 for entry and 20 tasting tickets (each ticket gets you a 4oz beer tasting). VIP tickets are available as well. Designated Drivers get in for $10!

April 7th

11th Annual Taste of Chocolate

The weekend continues with more treats! From 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel local chefs will present some of their finest chocolate masterpieces for the audience to vote on! Raffles, wine and beer tastings, and more are all a part of the event. All proceeds will benefit the Rotary Local, an organization that supports teachers. Chocolate and a good deed? What more can you want?

April 10th

Arizona International Film Festival

Every day through the 21st, Tucson will be home to the longest running film fest in Arizona! The Arizona International Film Festival will take up residence at The Screening Room and other venues throughout the city. See what’s playing, the different awards, and more! The festival’s goal is always to bridge cultures through their art, and you just might find your next favorite film!

Ongoing Events

Woven Through Time: American Treasures of Native Basketry & Fiber Art

Every day (but Sunday), at the Arizona State Museum there is an incredible new exhibit of over 35,000 samples of baskets and fiber art spanning millennia! Some pieces date back over 8,000 and represent the indigenous basket-weaving cultures from all across the U.S. Tickets are $5 for adults 18 years and older, entry is free for children and youth younger! Breakfast Horseback Ride

Now that we’re out of winter, the Tanque Verde Ranch is back at it delivering horseback rides and brunches! Every Sunday and Thursday, from 7:45 – 10:15 AM you can join up with the Breakfast Ride, weaving through the desertscape and taking a stop to enjoy pancakes, eggs, bacon, chocolate milk, and juice.  Find out more about this decidedly Tucson experience at Tanque Valley Ranch.
